What it is

One Piece is a long-running pirate adventure, and the Elbaph arc is its current chapter. Having fled Egghead, the Straw Hat crew sail for Elbaph, the long-awaited land of giants, alongside the Giant Warrior Pirates. Crunchyroll’s own summary promises reunions as well as new meetings with giants.1

The Japanese broadcast of the arc began on April 5, 2026.2 Crunchyroll streams the new episodes on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. PT, alongside the earlier episodes in sub and dub and a selection of the theatrical films.1

Why it matters now

The English dub of the Elbaph arc starts on Crunchyroll on October 20, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. PT with Episode 1156, and new dubbed episodes follow every Tuesday at the same time.1 The dub covers the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Southeast Asia and Latin America.1

That first dubbed episode is the first episode of the arc. The last dubbed Egghead episodes, 1144 to 1155, began on March 24, 2026, so the dub reaches the new arc right at its start.2 In July, Crunchyroll said only that the dub was coming in fall and that details would follow.3 The August announcement set the date.1

On October 13, the English, Spanish and Portuguese dubs of ONE PIECE HEROINES also arrive on Crunchyroll at 9:00 a.m. PT.1

Who it is for

It is for two groups. If you already follow One Piece in Japanese, the dub gives you a second way to watch the same arc. If you prefer English audio, a weekly Tuesday slot gives you a regular time to watch.1

It is not a place to start from nothing. The arc continues from Egghead, and Crunchyroll lists the anime in sub and dub for catching up.12 We could not confirm the total episode count from the pages we read, so we are not quoting a number.

What makes it different

The setting does the work. Elbaph is the land of giants that the crew has been heading toward, and Crunchyroll frames the arc around reunions as much as new meetings.1

The English cast is already partly public. For its New York Comic Con panel on October 9, Crunchyroll named Colleen Clinkenbeard as the English voice of Luffy, Matthew David Rudd as the English voice of Loki, and Ian Sinclair as the English voice of Brook and Scopper Gaban.4

The one thing to watch for

Watch the gap between sub and dub. The Japanese broadcast has been airing since April 5, so it is months ahead of the dub’s first episode, and spoilers travel. If you plan to wait for the dub, mute the arc’s name on social media.2

One honest gap: we could not confirm how many episodes the Elbaph arc will run, so we are not stating one.

Opinion

Our take

Our take: a good moment to start following One Piece if you like the English dub, and a poor one to start cold. Catch up first, or pick a point and accept that you will be a few steps behind.

Time well spent: a series this long is a big ask, and most people should not watch all of it before trying the new arc. If you are curious, try a few early episodes or one of the films Crunchyroll lists, and see whether the tone suits you.1

Weekly episodes are the best case for watching with other people, because the whole fandom is on the same episode on the same day. The Tuesday dub drop makes that easier for English viewers. The forum is open if you want to talk about it, with no spoilers in the title.

For anyone who makes things, a series whose current episode is numbered 1156 is a lesson in stamina: the same world and the same promises kept in order, week after week.1

Giants and reunions feel big in the moment. Whether the arc earns its length is a verdict for later, so give it a few episodes before you decide.

Credit to Crunchyroll and Toei for naming the dub date, the time and the regions months ahead, after a first announcement in July that said only that more details would come.13
