Turn a random roll into a real character

A generator gives you raw material. What makes an OC (original character) feel alive is how the traits pull against each other. Here is how to shape a roll into someone an audience will remember.

Look for the contradiction

The best rolls have one trait that fights another: a cheerful genki type whose secret is that they caused the disaster, or a stoic swordsman whose flaw is that they cannot say no to a friend. If your roll has no tension, reroll the flaw or the secret until it does.

Make the goal concrete

"Become strong" is a mood. "Win the regional tournament before the dojo is sold" is a story. Rewrite the goal so a reader would know the exact moment it is achieved or lost.

Let the look tell the story

Anime design reads at a glance. Hair colour, one signature item and a clear silhouette carry more than a paragraph of description. Pick a single detail from the roll and make it the thing fans would draw first.

Know the personality types

• Tsundere: harsh on the outside, caring underneath.
• Kuudere: calm and cool, rarely shows feelings.
• Dandere: shy and quiet until they trust someone.
• Genki: loud, energetic and endlessly upbeat.
• Deredere: openly warm and affectionate.
