How to fill in an OC character sheet
A character sheet is a one-page reference for an original character (OC). It keeps your design consistent from the first sketch to the last episode, and it is what you hand to a friend, an artist or a roleplay group so they get the character right. Here is what each part is for.
Basics: name, age, role and genre
Start with the facts a reader learns in the first scene. The role (protagonist, rival, mentor, villain) tells you how much page time the character needs. Stuck on a name? The anime name generator gives Japanese names with meanings.
Look: hair, eyes, outfit and signature item
Anime characters are recognised by silhouette and colour. Note the details an artist would need, and pick one signature item that only this character carries. Use the three theme colours to lock in a palette.
Personality: strengths, flaws, likes and dislikes
Give the character at least one flaw that causes real trouble. Strengths with no cost make a flat hero. Likes and dislikes are cheap details that make scenes feel lived in.
Story: goal, fear, secret and backstory
The goal drives the plot, the fear is what stands in the way, and the secret is the twist waiting to land. Keep the backstory to what actually changes how they act today.
Relationships and voice
List the two or three people who matter most and how they feel about each other. A catchphrase or speaking habit makes the character easy to write and easy to voice.
Print, PDF or copy and paste
Print or save as PDF opens your browser's print window; choose "Save as PDF" as the printer to keep a file. Copy as text gives you a plain version you can paste into a doc, a forum post or a roleplay server.
